Publisher Integration FAQ

Common questions from publishers integrating with Scope3’s agentic advertising platform.

AXE Integration

How are segments defined and activated?

Each segment maps to a campaign set up by an agentic buyer in the Scope3 platform. When we set up an order for a campaign, we map it to the appropriate segment. Segment Glossary:
  • axei - Inclusion segment (1P audience matching)
  • axex - Exclusion segments (brand safety blocks)
  • axem - Creative macros passed into the creative

How are segments used in the ad server?

Segments are passed as key-value pairs to your ad server (typically via Prebid). You set up line items targeting these segments, and the ad server uses them for inventory matching and delivery.

What is the expected impact on the ads ecosystem?

Publishers integrating with Scope3 typically see:
  • More demand - Access to AI-powered buyer agents
  • Higher CPMs - Premium pricing from direct buyer connections
  • Better ad quality - More control through brand standards and safety rules
  • Direct buyer relationships - Reduced intermediary fees

Is AXE required to integrate with Scope3?

Yes, AXE (Agentic eXchange Engine) is required to integrate with Scope3 through a sales agent. Other buyers may not require it or may have their own integration methods.

How do we get a data flow diagram for AXE?

See the AXE Integration Data Flow section for a complete diagram showing how segments flow from buyer agents through AXE to your ad server.

Sales Agent Integration

Do we need to integrate with a sales agent?

Yes, a sales agent is required to connect your inventory to the Scope3 agentic ecosystem. The sales agent acts as the bridge between your ad server and AI buyer agents.

How do we get integrated with a sales agent?

Several options are available:
  1. Commercial Solutions:
  2. Open Source:
  3. Build Your Own:

Is the buyer’s agent the same as the seller agent?

No:
  • Buyer’s agent - Like a DSP, represents the advertiser
  • Seller agent - Like an SSP/Prebid, represents the publisher

Does Scope3 provide both the seller agent and AXE?

Scope3 is the buyer platform and provides AXE for real-time data. We host an open-source sales agent to help publishers get on board, but you can use any compatible sales agent.

Signal Agent Integration

What other integrations are needed besides Prebid and GAM?

Beyond the basic AXE integration, you may want to:
  1. Map your data - Audience segments and contextual data (weather, etc.)
  2. Define products - Create a media product catalog
  3. Set pricing - Configure your pricing model
  4. Build custom agents (optional) - Custom targeting or pricing logic

Do publishers need a seller agent to get value from signal agents?

Yes, the sales agent sets up campaigns as line items in your ad server. The flow is: Offline (Campaign Setup):
Signal Agents → Scope3 Data Attachment API → Scope3 Platform
→ AXE Sync + Sales Agent → Ad Server (line items created)
Real-time (Ad Serving):
Ad Server → Prebid → AXE (matches with pre-synced data) → Returns segments
→ Ad Server matches line items → Delivers creative with macros

What enhancements does Scope3 provide to sales agents?

On the sales agent side, Scope3 provides:
  • Hosted open-source version for easy onboarding
  • Technical support during integration
  • Connection to the Scope3 buyer ecosystem
The sales agent itself is open source or provided by third-party vendors.

Does Scope3 provide signal agents to advertisers?

No, Scope3’s platform connects to signal agents but doesn’t provide them. Publishers build signal agents to expose their unique data and capabilities.

Can we add custom targeting adapters (like Weather)?

Yes! If you have proprietary data (weather triggers, custom audiences, etc.), you can build a signal agent that exposes this data to buyer agents. See Signals Agents Integration.

How does the signal agent handle dynamic updates?

Signal agents attach data to Scope3 via the Data Attachment API (offline integration). You manage your data through:
  1. Scope3 Data Attachment API - Standard integration for attaching contextual data
  2. Your signal agent - Prepares and sends data to Scope3
  3. Your own systems - Direct database/API updates that feed the signal agent
Scope3 syncs this data to AXE periodically. During real-time bidding, AXE uses the pre-synced data for fast campaign matching.

Do we need direct DSP/SSP integrations outside the signal agent?

No! That’s what AXE does. The signal agent exposes your data through a standard interface, and AXE handles the activation into your ad server. No separate DSP/SSP integrations required.

Technical Integration

What integrations do we need at minimum?

Minimum viable integration:
  1. AXE integration (via Prebid or server-side)
  2. Sales agent connection
  3. GAM/ad server configuration
Recommended additions: 4. Signal agent for your unique data 5. Creative agent for dynamic creative 6. Webhook integration for reporting

Do we have to integrate Prebid to use Scope3?

No, but Prebid is the easiest path. Options include:
  • Prebid.js - Client-side integration (easiest)
  • Prebid Server - Server-side prebid
  • Server-to-server - Direct API integration (requires development)

What’s required to integrate with ad servers besides GAM?

Scope3 works with any ad server that supports:
  • Key-value targeting (for segments)
  • Macro substitution (for creative personalization)
  • OpenRTB or similar protocols
Supported ad servers include GAM, Springserve, Freewheel, and custom solutions.
